Today was a massive day filled with plenty of music, a new beginning, & a special guest. Earlier this wk I found out that Soulection Radio got promoted to a new 3 hr time slot which is a game changer. An extra 60 min is such a difference. The hard work is really paying off. Sean & I went b2b on the 1’s & 2’s for the first 2 1/2 hrs & then had a discussion for about 15-20 min. We played all sorts of different styles of music. It’s always refreshing to share the decks w/ other DJs because you always learn&hear music from a different perspective. Make sure to catch Sean & his partner Abraham on — http://soundwaveskpfk.com https://twitter.com/djseano
Sean had to leave to play at a gig & it was towards the end of the show that I found out that the following show-host wasn’t coming in, so what did I do? I played for another hour-plus.
VLooper is one of Quebec’s prominent beatmakers who has been on our radar for years. In fact, VLooper was apart of our brilliant Soulection Compilation which placed us on the map. This time along we’re here to play you this HudMo refix which incorporates a rare track that was never released properly. The world needs the original! Make sure to download this massive one Here. Don’t be surprised if you see & hear a forthcoming project from VLooper in the near future. Stay tuned.
This will be our 2nd release for the month of May and 11th release overall. At this point in time we would like take you on a beat journey all the way to Switzerland. Jazzo & Melodiesinfonie are a duo that the Soulection crew has been in tune with for years now. We figured that it would only make sense for us to reach out and collaborate on an EP.
With so many beat makers in existence out there in the world, Jazzo & Melodiesinfonie stood out to us because their style and approach to making music is so diverse within every single track. The element that stands out most in their production is that every single track that they create has an average of 2-3 segments or breakdowns that create a new sound direction and vibe. It’s not so much that they are the first ones to ever do it, but they are one of the first ones to do it right and consistently. With that said, despite this EP consisting of 4 tracks, there is really 7-8 tracks total within due to their signature style of implementing multiple tracks within one.
“The thing is, there are so many boring loop beats in this beat scene.. I think you know what I mean. When Jazzo and I make music, our first principal is to have fun and to create songs, not loops, and with songs the meaning is, we want to have different parts in one track, and we work, maybe 7 hours on a track, have fun together and just love what we do, simple as that! Everytime we create, it’s like a trip through a colorful world.
Wasser means ‘Water’ in English. The reality is that everybody needs water, water is nature, water is real, it’s fresh and peaceful. All the tracks within this EP are very chill. We both love nature and this is where we find much of our inspiration. We worked on every track more than 6 hours, we sat together in the studio and drank Water, cause we’re both straight edge. We just live and want to spread love and nature.” -Jazzo & Melodisinfonie
this time along I had special guest & long time Soulection affiliate —- Ahwlee slide through Kbeach. This whole wk was really intense for me but my man Ahwlee was able to ease my mind with his sounds. He played a smooth soulful set of original content filled w/ timeless chops/samples and dusty grooves. His sampling game is on point. He opened up the show for the 1st hour & then I closed out the show. Unfortunately, my data/files from my Macbook & External HD got lost, however I was still able to provide a nice set 4u considering my situation. This Tuesday (May 22nd) we will be dropping a 4 track EP w/ Jazzo & Melodiesinfonie (Wesser EP via soulection.bandcamp.com)
Beyond doing designs and illustrations for artists all over the world, our very own 96 created this amazing visual full of complex but soothing textures. You can’t help but get lost in them! If you haven’t heard this Kalimba Song, make sure you head over to our Bandcamp and support AbJo and his Sankofa EP.
Our 10th installment comes from a very special artist who is based out of Swindon (UK). He goes by the name of Kings and he is definitely the sound of tomorrow. His sound is incredibly powerful and infused with deep vibrations that mix between Future-Bass, Trap, 2-step, Soul, and UK Funky. Think of Silkie matched with S-X — Yes, he’s that good! We discovered his sound about 3-4 months ago and contacted him instantly. Although he’s never released anything officially, we felt that Soulection would be an ideal platform for him to be introduced to our audience and to the world. We do want to express to you that this man has a bright future as long as he continues to put out music that is as honest, powerful, and consistent as this EP. So please stay conscious of him and our next moves.
“Trap Musik 1 was an old project which I was experimenting with. At the time I was inspired by Silkie, a dubstep producer. He influenced the purple sound in my tracks. I wanted to try and make a basic Trap Musik beat and ended up adding the purple influence to it. Eventually came through and made this track. The rest of the tracks were made from experiences that occurred in my life since making Trap Musik 1. The name Endless Fog comes from a journey home in a car with my team, TRXJVN family, DTM. On our way back from Bristol all we could see was pure thick fog surrounding everything, we could barely see anything hence the name Endless Fog. It also represents the thoughts I used to have about wanting something to happen so badly but it never would, a foggy sense of hope without realistically thinking.” -Kings
First off, shouts to everyone who locked in live.. but most importantly big respect to everyone who has been supporting Soulection… We see&feel you. What a way to kick our way into our 80th session — this time along we have our very own PHEO! If you don’t know who Pheo is then you should scope his FREE RELEASE NOW »> http://soulection.bandcamp.com/album/…
A very gifted individual who is smooth & impeccable on the MIC. Get acquainted. Pheo & I sprinkle bits of They Soulection on the show & discuss the concepts behind some of the tracks. Pheo also does a live cover of ‘Nyquil’. We discuss music, life, and oh yeah.. I drop a vast amount of deep music. Get lost with us. EZ.
Shigeto comes correct with this remix track for DZA! Shigeto has really been progressing over the past year and has really established his style of sound. Apparently this will be coming out soon via how2make — keep it locked!
